Sunless Tanning
Frequently Asked Questions
What is sunless tanning?
Sunless tanning, also known as spray tanning, is a way to get a tan without exposure to the sun’s UV rays. It involves applying a mist containing DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) to your skin, creating a natural-looking tan.
How long does a sunless tan last?
A sunless tan typically lasts 5 to 7 days, depending on your skin type, preparation, and aftercare. Proper moisturization and care can help prolong the tan.
Is the sunless tanning process safe?
Yes, sunless tanning is generally considered safe. The active ingredient, DHA, is Health Canada and FDA-approved and has been used in cosmetic preparations for decades.
How should I prepare for my sunless tanning session?
Shower, exfoliate and shave your skin 24 hours prior to your appointment. Avoid wearing makeup, moisturizers, or any product that can act as a barrier to the tanning solution to your appointment.
What should I wear during the tanning session?
Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing to your appointment. You may choose to wear a dark-colored bikini or underwear during the tanning session, or you can opt for disposables provided at our salon.
How soon after the session can I shower?
It is advisable to wait 8-12 hours post-tanning session before you shower to allow the tan to develop fully.
How do I maintain my sunless tan?
Moisturize daily, avoid long hot showers and excessive exfoliation. Try to avoid chlorinated pools as chlorine can bleach the tan.
Will the tanning solution stain my clothes?
The tanning solution may temporarily stain your clothes, but it generally washes out. Wear dark and loose clothing to avoid rubbing off the tan.
Can pregnant women undergo sunless tanning??
Yes! However if you have any concerns we recommend checking with your health professional to confirm this is an option for you.
Can I customize my tan?
Absolutely! We offer different shades and our technicians will work with you to customize a color that suits your natural skin tone and desired level of tan
